a placid lake at dusk:

I used to see you thus,

walking along your perimeter.

could i walk there with you?

study you from a safe distance?

observe your aura? without harm?

is it possible?

Now I see the same, plus:

a dying sun, an open wound,

a gaping door I run right through,

and ancient love reduced to dust.
